Many seemed shocked at the end of the New Patriotic Party’s national executive elections, especially in the General Secretary race, in which the most confident incumbent, John Boadu, after the massive endorsement, lost to Justin Frimpong Koduah in a humiliating defeat.

However, for the sake of unity and peace, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Benard Antwi Bosiako, known widely as Chairman Wontumi, has congratulated the newly elected General Secretary.

In a congratulatory letter written by Chairman Wontumi to Justin Kodua, he admitted that though he didn’t support him, they should work together to achieve their aim of ‘breaking the 8.’

“God knows what is good for our dear party. I supported JB but the delegates in their own wisdom chose you. We look forward to working hard so that together we can ‘Break the 8’. May God bless you and once again congratulations to you and the NPP for a successful election from Chairman Wontumi to JFK,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong condemned Chairman Wontumi for whipping all the regional chairmen of the party to openly endorse John Boadu.

“The 15 chairmen and the Central Regional Chairman, where are the 16 chairmen? They should be ashamed of themselves because they couldn’t decide for the party.

“My brother Wontumi should cool down. He should cool down [because] he doesn’t own this party. He doesn’t at all. He has to cool down.

“All of them have been embarrassed. If it had been anywhere, all the chairmen would have resigned,” Kennedy Agyapong told Accra-based TV3 journalist after the results were announced at the Accra Sports Stadium.
