The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Benard Antwi Bosiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has taken a swipe at Akufo-Addo’s critics over calls for a ministerial reshuffle.

He said President Akufo-Addo is an anointed leader God speaks to.

According to him, at the appointed time, the President will reshuffle his government only when God speaks to him.

“God doesn’t speak to a follower, he speaks to the leader alone. Akufo-Addo is anointed, so they should be mute,” he noted.

Chairman Wontumi said this during a discussion on whether Akufo-Addo should listen to the calls by the public, especially the opposition members, to embark on a ministerial reshuffle when he appeared on the Accra-based Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana show on Thursday, July 14, monitored by this portal.

When asked why he and NPP members criticised the previous Mahama’s administration while in opposition despite knowing God only speaks to a leader alone, he argues that Mahama wasn’t anointed like President Akufo-Addo, a reason they constantly criticised him.

“But unfortunately for Mahama, the anointing wasn’t on him. That is why we criticized him when he was in power,” he intimated.

Chairman Wontumi argues that Mahama could not get the anointing of God because he could not understand the parable languages God wanted to communicate with him.

According to him, Mr Mahama’s victory in the 2012 elections can be tied to the sympathy Ghanaians developed for him following the death of the late President Professor Evans Atta Mills and also, his handsome looks.

“God spoke to him through parables, but he could not understand because he was voted into power based on sympathy for Atta Mills’ death and his handsome looks,” he emphasised.
