Editor of the Republic Press Newspaper, Samuel Frempong has slammed four (4) Members of Parliament (MP) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for presenting a motion for an enquiry into the death of former President John Evans Atta-Mills.

According to him, it is funny members of the NPP are crying over the 10-year-old death of the former President. “It is funny these NPP MPs are crying more than the bereaved family. This is a sign of their clownish behavior. We all know the former President died 10 years ago because he was battling with illness. So how is it that 10 years on these MPs say they have nothing doing and consider it highly important to investigate the death of the late President. The family already has the report on the cause of his death and that was 10 years ago so it is just insensitive to bring back this issue up in such a clownish and ridiculous manner.”

Four Majority MPs led by Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP, Frank Annoh-Dompreh have filed a Private Member’s motion calling for a bi-partisan investigation into the death of the former President John Evans Atta-Mills.

Aside from the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP, the remaining sponsors of the motion include Tolon MP, Habib Iddrissu; Mpraeso MP, Davis Ansah Opoku and Tema Central MP, Yves Hanson-Nortey.

The group wants Parliament to constitute a committee “to unravel the unending mystery surrounding the death of late President Mills which sad event occurred on July 24, 2012.”

Samuel Frempong described the motion led by Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, as a forgery on his (Annoh-Dompreh) part.

After the motion was filed, Mpraeso MP, Davis Ansah Opoku popularly known as OPK issued a statement dissociating himself from it. He claimed he never signed his name to the inquiry.

“Surprisingly the other names beneath the inquiry did not have the signatures there and I think it is time Parliament takes this issue seriously and find out how Annoh-Dompreh got their names on there when they claim they know nothing about it,” he shared on the Happy Morning Show hosted by Samuel Eshun.

He expressed worry over the call for such an inquest as he believes it is disrespectful to the late President’s memory and legacy.
