The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has begun the election of new officers ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Next on the line after the polling stations and constituency elections is the regional executives elections on November 12, which will be followed by the national elections on December 17.

The incumbent General Secretary of the party, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, is aspiring to unseat the incumbent Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to become the party’s chairman.

But the former Deputy General Secretary of the party, Mr. Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has been kicking against Asiedu Nketia’s candidature.

In a tweet sighted by Modernghana News on Friday, October 28, the CEO of Atta Mills Institute claimed that even the ancestors of the party would never sit aloof for General Mosquito to become the next chairman.

“The souls of, JJ Rawlings, John Evans Atta-Mills, Kofi Awoonor, Kojo Tsikata, D.F. Annan, Mary Grant, A.A. Munufie, J.H. Owusu-Acheampong, Fred Ohene-Kena, and the blood of the Revolution, SHALL not allow Asiedu-Nketiah to become Chairman & Leader of NDC. Torfiakwa,” he wrote.
